Healing....Hmmm....

So I had an interesting weekend last week. I was at church and after the service there was a sort of healing exhibition. Now again, I am a "logical" Christian, historically speaking. My knee jerk reaction was that this is the kind of thing you see on TV with the Church/Cult con man feel to it, but as I said with my last post I am keeping an open mind. The pastor started calling out a few physical symptoms. Pain under the right rib? Someone stood up. Pain in the left knee? Another person stood. Again the cynic in me was screaming PLANTS! He then said "pain in the left hip flexor." Whoah! Did he just say hip flexor? Oh never mind it was the right hip flexor that's been plaguing me. I'm talking shooting sharp pain every time I squatted anything over 500lbs. It's pretty much the reason my squat lags so far behind my deadlift. Shoot sometimes while walking it will flare up and I'll have to stop for a minute to let it stop searing before I contiune. But hey, It's my right hip and he definitely said left. Curiously no one came up for that one. He played it off saying that sometimes his naming isn't 100% and dismissed it. He then invited the people who raised their hands on stage and went on with a demonstration on how to pray for healing. One said he felt 80% better on his pain and another not so much. Again all my mind was screaming was Placebo Effect or is it "affect?" I can never remember....

Flash forward to later in that day I am watching a movie at the theatre with my kids and mom. I found my mind wandering. I started praying (Something that feels like a working out a muscle you haven't used in years). I prayed for my kids that they would be safe and not too messed up from my divorce. I prayed that my ex finds fulfillment in her job and life, and that the kids wouldn't drive her up the wall. Also that her current relationship would go down in flames but not in a way that hurts her. (Hey I'm just a man. I'm not perfect). Then proceeded to pray about other things and I felt a pop in my hip......my right hip. It wasn't a joint pop or something normal. It felt like the connective tissues popped. Honestly I was a bit concerned so I decided not to move for a while. When the movie ended I got up very cautiously and my hip pain wasn't there. I had full range of motion and more importantly it didn't hurt when trying to squat down which is a first in almost 2 years. Ever the skeptic, I wanted to get a week of squatting on it before I wrote about it.

1. I can hit full depth on squats now.
2. My hip is a bit sore but it's that I haven't worked that muscle in a while kind of sore not actual pain.
3. It's stayed healthy and pain free for the whole week.

So apparently God wants me to hit a monster PR on my squat at my meet in June :)
